Emil Dimitrov brings over 18 years of coaching experience to KAJ including experience as head coach of the Milton Marlins in Ontario, the University of Calgary age group program and West Kelowna's Liquid Lightning.
Over the years, Emil has trained national level swimmers including David Dimitrov, Jennifer Porenta, Kristin McIlroy and Kierra Smith. Dimitrov says his coaching philosophy focuses heavily on swimming technique. "In my experience, it is proper technique, especially at the development stage, that provides the best foundation for success and reduces the risk of injury or burnout. As a result I have never had a swimmer suffer a swimmer related injury during my 17+ years of head coaching".
In 2011 Emil was awarded the BC Coaches Association Junior Coach of the Year award.
David swam for 17 years. His first 9 years were in his home town of Milton, Ontario with the Milton Marlins. He continued his career in Calgary with the University of Calgary Swim Club, and then joined the UofC Dino's Varsity team for two great years. He competed at the national and international level during the later years of his career. Since retiring from the sport he has transitioned his passion to a coaching role, in hopes to pass on the love for and knowledge of the sport. He has been coaching all ages and performance levels for the last 5 years, and is very excited to work with the Silver group this year!
Stefan was a former nationally ranked swimmer who has been coaching with the Cascade Swim Club out of Calgary for the past 5 years. Having competed for 12 years previous to coaching, Stefan is very excited to bring his love of the sport and dedication to coaching to the Aqua Jets. He looks forward to inspiring athletes to achieve their true potential and find a long lasting love for the sport."

Junior Jets Coach
I have been a competitive swimmer for over 10 years. I spent the first 5 years of my swimming career with the Kelowna AquaJets before transitioning over to the Liquid Lightning Swim Club, where I continue to swim now. Some of my achievements in the sport of swimming so far include being a ten time provincial medalist, as well as competing at the 2014 Pan Pacific/Commonwealth Games Trials and the 2015 Pan American/World Trials. I am currently in my third year of the business program at Okanagan College, majoring in Accounting. In the past I have coached with the Liquid Lightning Swim Club and I currently coach the Okanagan Masters Swim Club, along with the AquaJets. I look forward to coaching the Junior Jets this year and helping them improve throughout the season.
Junior Jet Coach
Since he was a baby, Sam tried to be a fish. After nine years swimming competitively with the Aquajets Swim Club, he decided he wanted to give back and contribute to his swim community as a coach. He is excited to find new and different ways to connect with kids and teach the basics of the sport both in and out of the pool. Besides Sam’s love of the water, he holds his coaching certificate in cycling along with swimming, and loves to be on his bike. As well, for many years, he’s raced triathlon at an elite level. When he’s not racing in the pool, on wheels, or on his feet, Sam is studying hard and is enjoying his first year at UBCO as an engineering student. He looks forward to helping your children feel empowered and reach their goals in and out of the water.
